| Pascal Toso Reserve Malbec 2006 . . . . . 15.99 90/100 - Wine Advocate. “The 2006 Malbec Reserva is another outstanding effort. It too was aged for 12 months in new oak, 80% American and 20% French. Purple-colored, it offers an array of wood smoke, spice box, soy, pencil lead, violets, and black cherry. On the palate the wine is firm and structured, but with more than enough fruit to provide balance. The dark fruit flavors offer complexity and grip and the firm finish lasts for 30+ seconds. Give it 4-6 years to evolve and enjoy it through 2020.” (Argentina) |

Ridge Santa
Cruz Mountains
Cabernet/Merlot 2005
. . . .
.
36.99
91/100 - Our score.
Made from 58% Cabernet Sauvignon and 42% Merlot, this
modestly-priced offering from Ridge marries elegant
structure with brambly Santa Cruz Mountains fruit. While
not the flagship Monte Bello, the Santa Cruz Cabernet is sourced
from the same vineyard sites; with the more accessible, softer
fruit going into this cuvee. A nose of plum, black cherry, tobacco
and herbs lead into a very supple palate of red and black briary
fruits with more notes of tobacco and a slight edge of bell pepper.
The silky finish has considerable length and freshness, thanks to
nicely supporting acidity - very nicely done. This can be enjoyed
early in life, but will continue to develop over the next 8-10 years.
