Viña Godeval
Godello 2006 . . . . . 14.99
90/100 - Our score.
90/100, “Smart Buy”, “Top 100 Wines of 2007” - Wine Spectator.
90/100 - Wine Advocate. “Godeval gets much of the credit for rescuing the Godello grape from extinction. The estate made its first Godello in 1986. It is now recognized as one of Spain’s finest white wine grapes. The 2006 Viña Godeval is 100% Godello aged in stainless steel. Light straw colored with green highlights, it exhibits an alluring perfume of mineral, floral notes, citrus, and tropical fruits lurking in the background. Smooth-textured, layered, and rich, this full-flavored, well-balanced wine is all about pleasure. Drink it over the next 2-3 years.”

RED

Capcanes
“Mas Donis”
Montsant 2005
. . . . . 11.79
91/100 - Wine Advocate. “Mas Donis Barrica is a custom cuvee made for importer Eric Solomon using old-vine Garnacha (80+ years) and Syrah (30+ years). The 2005 Mas Donis Barrica is 85 % Garnacha and 15% Syrah aged for 8 months in French and American oak before bottling without fining or filtration. It offers up an expressive nose of slate, mineral, licorice, violets, black cherry, and blueberry. Layered, long, and complex, this spicy, hedonistic effort has 2-3 years of aging potential but can be enjoyed now without guilt. It is a great value.”

Acustic
Montsant 2006 . . . . . 17.99
90/100 - Wine Advocate. “The 2006 Acustic is a notable value composed of 55% Samso and 45% Garnacha aged for 10 months in French oak. Dark ruby/purple, it exhibits a fragrant bouquet of cedar, spice box, mineral, and black cherry. This leads to a smooth-textured, elegant, sweetly-fruited wine already revealing considerable complexity. There is some silky tannin lurking in the background which will allow this tasty effort to drink well through 2020.”

Marqués de Murrieta
Rioja Reserva 2004 . . . . . 21.99
91/100 - Our score.
Matured for 22 months in 225 liter new and semi-new American oak casks, this beauty proffers lifted aromas of vanilla, mocha and black cherry. The fresh cherry fruit on the palate is rich and deep, buttressed by smooth, ripe tannins and lush acidity; all dovetailing together on the broad, elegant finish.

Clos Galena
“Galena”
Priorat 2004
. . . . . 23.99
92/100 - Wine Advocate. “Clos Galena was established just six years ago and is organically farmed. It contains a mix of old vines and new plantings. The 2004 Galena is composed of 35% Garnacha Negra, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, and 15% Carinena aged 12 months in French and American oak. It is an internationally styled effort with a dark ruby color, spicy red currant and black cherry aromas with a touch of vanilla in the background. Medium to full-bodied, it has a supple texture, layers of sweet, ripe fruit, and a long, heady finish. Allow another 2-4 years of bottle age and drink it over the following 10 years.”

Clos Galena
“Clos Galena”
Priorat 2004 . . . . . 42.99
95/100 - Wine Advocate. “The 2004 Clos Galena raises the bar considerably. It is a blend of 40% Garnacha Negra, 20% Carinena, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, and 10% Syrah aged 12 months in French and American oak. Opaque purple-colored, it offers a super-expressive nose of spice, grilled meat, black currants, and blueberry jam. Full-bodied, with mouth-filling fruit, this flamboyant wine is dense, fat, and layered. There is well-concealed tannin and great balance. Drink this beauty over the next 10-12 years.”
